  Jim Phillips is in Huntsville Hospital, after having cancer surgery today.


  The Bakers: “Just want to thank CYG for taking the time to hide eggs in our yards. To take time to do that, it meant a lot.”

  Garrett and Karin Bell: “One of our college students, Kyearia Booker, has an aunt named Jessie who works in healthcare and contracted the virus attending the sick. Please pray for her recovery. They are in Mobile.”

  Dot Bowen: “A former student of my neighbor has contracted the virus and is on life support in New Jersey. Please pray for complete healing for Terrell Holder. Thank you.”

  Ben Clark: “Please continue to pray for our recovery. Thanks to God that Follin and I are feeling better. We are grateful for the generosity of our church family.” Terry Mims also requests good health for The Clarks. (Update: “Lily got sick on Monday and was lethargic and nauseous most of the day. Levi also didn't feel well and has a nasty cough.” Please pray for the entire family.)

  Dittos:Jim Phillips will have surgery on Wednesday. Please lift him and Tracy up in prayer. And while the request mentions surgery, remember all our medical personnel who everyday expose themselves to danger on our behalf.” The Canterburys also had a prayer request for Jim and Tracy.

  The John Kuhns Family: “Please pray for our friend, The Williams Family. 7 out of 9 of their family are struggling with COVID-19.”

  Emilie Porter:I would like prayers of comfort for a friend from Harding, Megan Lawson and family. Her father (Jim Lawson, Jr. ) passed away this morning (Sunday, April 12th) from complications associated with COVID-19. Thank you!”

  Grant Ralph: “Thank everyone so much who sent sympathy cards to me. They are all very encouraging, though I’m still very emotional and it is still hard to accept my mother’s passing. Thank all of you for your prayers, for I still need them”

  James and Mishaella Ryans: “Please pray for a healthy pregnancy for The Ryans.” (Due October 1st.)

  Ed Smith Family: “Prayers for Meghan as she travels home Monday (April 13th).” (Update: After a layover in Atlanta, Meghan and her bird, Rillo, are safely home. The Smiths texted: “Thanks for the prayers. They came in On A Wing and A Prayer pun intended.”

  Louise Williams: Update concerning Louise’s cousin, Bettie Bumpas, in Somerset, New Jersey, and Bettie’s daughters. “Bettie is doing fine. It appears that she didn't have the virus after all. Her youngest daughter, Clarrisa, is riding out the virus at home upstairs away from her mom. She calls me with updates on her sister, Brenda. Brenda is making some progress. The ventilator is now at 30% and they have started her on some moderate breathing exercises. However, the medical staff is still trying to get her temperature stabilized.”

I wanted to forward this newsletter from Carlos and Linda Eguizabal from El Salvador.  We talk to them often and they are doing well considering the circumstance, like everyone else. All of El Salvador is currently under house quarantine until 5th of May. One person is permitted to leave home each day to obtain food. Praise the Lord, everyone from the Juayua and Salcoatitan congregations are doing well.  We request your continued prayers for each of the members.  Blessings, Dwaine and Charlotte”

1. BETTER - Hebrews Study (Ladies Only)

Melinda Goad and Heidi Haviland are continuing their class on the book of Hebrews using the Zoom application. This is an interactive forum that takes place on Wednesday nights at 7:00-8:00pm. This discussion-based class requires participants to do some weekly reading prior to class to get the most out of the study. Contact Heidi for additional details. Video participation requires a smartphone or a computer with a microphone, and videocam if you want to share your video. 2. Central Connections – Begins tonight

This forum enables multiple small groups to connect each week for spiritual conversations and to get to know one another better. Depending on the group, the gathering may include devotional thoughts, sharing, and prayer. In particular, one group plans to focus on important lessons from church history. Another will take important insights from Philippians when the author himself was “quarantined”! Still other groups will adapt their format to the specific needs and desires of the group. These interactive forums will use the Zoom application. Participation requires a smartphone or a computer with videocam and microphone. Meetings nominally takes place on Wednesday nights at 7:00pm, but once groups are established, participants may set their own date and time. Each session will last 30 to 40 minutes. He will help you get connected with a small group and help you with instructions on how to dial in.

3. Prayer

4. Unschooled and Ordinary

David Nance and Loren Wisehart are continuing their class that looks at ordinary people and their encounters with Jesus. This is an interactive forum that takes place on Wednesday nights at 7:00pm. Participation requires a smartphone or a computer with videocam and microphone. To participate effectively in the next class, you will need in advance to have watched Episode 2 from “The Chosen,” a video series that is free online through April 30. Robert Wade is continuing his auditorium class on Jesus’s parables. Robert is using Central’s YouTube channel to present this class. The class airs online on Sundays at 9:00am, and the recording will remain online for subsequent on-demand access. The feed is accessible through the Media/Streaming tab on Central’s website. Individual prefilled communion cups are available at the church office. You may pick up as many as you need. (Please call – 256-534-0382 or 256-508-9404 before coming to make sure we are here.) When we leave the church office on Friday, we will leave some on the small wicker table on the church office porch.
