REJOICE

We rejoice with the angels over the birth of three new brothers. Matt Twilley (left), Brian Johnson (center) and Chris Stolz (right), all residents of His Way, were baptized Matt Sunday, August 2nd. Please welcome and encourage them.

WELCOME

We welcome Daniel Alavi, who will be working as our new campus minister, and his wife, Fallon. We are excited that they have decided to work with and fellowship with us.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Ø  Jamie Burns: “I’d like everyone to know that I very much appreciate the calls, notes, and prayers received over the last week for my family. My nieces and sister are in various stages of recovery from COVID. Please continue to pray for them and that this does not spread further in the family. My mom has returned home and continues to test COVID negative. The heart rate and blood pressure seem to be under control now; however her health is continuing to decline. Please pray for her and my dad who works so hard to care for her.

Ø  Funkhousers: “My friend, Vince Aye, has been hospitalized for over a week and fighting COVID-19. He is still on a ventilator, but is starting to show improvement. Please pray for continued healing such that he can be back on his feet serving God and joyfully loving people unconditionally. Also pray healing for his wife, Tok, who was released from the hospital a week ago. Thank you.”

Ø  Melanie Gipson: “Please pray for my dad, Ron Portzer. He had his leg amputated. Pray he has the desire to walk with medical leg ordered in the coming weeks.”

Ø  Nikki Holley: “All is well at home in the Bahamas….little to no damage this time from the hurricane.”

Ø  Please keep Martha Jones in your prayers. Somehow she got out of bed, fell, and broke two bones (tibia and femur) in her left leg. Two of her daughters, Faye Heaton and Barbara Hammer, have gone to Murfreesboro to be with their 108 years old mother. Faye requested that we pray that her mom won’t have to suffer in pain. (Update: Found out this morning that Ms. Martha did not break her bones, but fractured them. She is not taking anything, except a little morphine before they have to move her. Faye said that the three of them are taking turns being with her. They are only able to have two in the room at a time. Please continue to keep all of them in your prayers.)

Ø  Keetons: “So excited for Daniel and Fallon to be with us! Prayers for their family and the campus ministry as they begin.”

Ø  Tonda Kuhn: “John interviewed for a different position at Costco last Thursday (July 30th). Please pray with me that this is an open door for a more positive work environment.”

Ø  Dwaine and Charlotte Simmons: “We would like to ask for prayers from the congregation for Linda Eguizabal, the preacher's wife in El Salvador. She has had COVID now for twelve days. She is in isolation to prevent spreading to Carlos and the girls. She has had fever and no taste or smell. She is improving. Carlos said that about six members probably have the virus. Testing and treatment is limited, so please keep Linda and the members at Salcoatitan and Juayua in your prayers. Thank you all. Blessings.”

Ø  Ed Smith Family: “The past week Ed’s mom lost her oldest grandchild and Ed’s niece (42-year-old lady) after a long bout with Lupus. Also, Ms. Smith lost a long-time close friend of 14 years as well – both in the same week. We are glad to be here, close, to comfort her in these losses. Cards of encouragement: Ruth Smith, 6430 Lockhart Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32209. We miss everyone terribly. Still watch on Sunday a.m. until we find our place. Take care.”

Ø  Carrie Wisehart:My sister, Sherry Marquette, texted me this morning (Wednesday, August 5th). Last night she had to take my 15-year-old nephew, Sean, to the ER and the doctors found an infection in his liver and spleen. He has been transferred to Oschner Hospital in New Orleans. She has requested prayers for both their family and the doctor’s to be able to discover the cause and properly treat him. I am thankful that both she and her husband are able to be at the hospital with him during this time.”

Ø  Our Shut-ins: Cindy Anderson, Lorraine Baker, Amelia Biser, Jamie Cole, Vickie Cook, James Hall, Martha Jones, Sally Mans, Joy McKee, Mike Porter, Johnny Powell, and Bill & Sherill Townsley.

Ø  Mother-In-Waiting: Mishaella Ryans (10/1)

Ø  Our Missionaries: Denisovs & Rahimovs (Tomsk, Russia), Kishore Etwaroo Family (Port Kaituma, Guyana), Carlos & Linda Eguizabal (Juayua & Salcoatitan, El Salvador) & YOU (Huntsville Area)

THANK YOU

Thanks, Central Family, for your prayers and the beautiful fruit basket (and other goodies) that Juanita personally delivered. The cataract surgery went very well, and I am amazed with the clarity and colors that I can now see. The surgery on the second eye is a week from Monday. So please continue to remember me in your prayers.                      Sam O’Hanian

GOOD NEWS FROM KISHORE

Kishore wanted to thank the congregation at Central for your prayers. God has granted a peaceful resolution to the government crisis in Guyana!

The saga has taken over a year and a half to resolve. After an election earlier this year, the recent past president tried for months to instigate violence and then declare martial law but failed. Finally, he stepped down and the legally elected president was sworn-in in a very short and peaceful process.

God truly is Sovereign over all the nations!
