REJOICE
We rejoice with the angels
over the birth of a new brother. Taylor Harbin, a resident of His
Way, was baptized Sunday, April 26th.
Please welcome and encourage him.
WELCOME
We welcome Gala
Crawford, who met with some of the elders Saturday, April 25th, and
wishes to work and fellowship with us at Central. Gala just finished her
senior year at UAH with a Mechanical Engineering degree. Please welcome and
encourage her.
UPDATE ON SICK
Ø Bill Townsley
is in Crestwood Hospital, Room 368 after breaking his hip Sunday, April 26th,
from a fall. He is doing well after having surgery Monday, April 27th.
PRAYER REQUESTS
Ø Terri Apgar: “We were notified Saturday night (April 25th)
that 2 associates at my mum’s elder care facility have tested positive for
COVID-19. Please pray over the residents, staff, and administrators. Thank
you.” (Update: So far the unit that Terri’s mother is in are safe.)
Ø Bobby Ashley: “Please pray for Bruce and Sharon Woodson and
family over the death of their son, Ryan.”
Ø Ben Clark Family: “Thanks to God for our health improvement this week. Follin’s lung and blood tests came back clear so the
doctor says she should slowly get her strength and endurance back over the next
few weeks. Thanks to all for your prayers and provisions during this time. We
love you all!”
Ø “Levi Clark wants to pray that he can find lots
of things to do during the quarantine.”
Ø Melanie Gipson: “Pray for Tenley, my niece, who is an
8-month-old baby. Pray for many healthcare challenges.”
Ø Dorothy Guthrie: “Please pray for my niece, Bethany, whose newborn
son is going to UAB for tests tomorrow (Monday, April 27th). His
kidneys are not functioning properly. Pray for a good diagnosis and healthy
outcome. Thank you.” (Update: Kidney surgery will be Wednesday, May 8th,
at UAH.)
Ø Heidi Haviland: “Please continue to pray for our friend, Leslie
Neal, who is in the hospital with some critical illness.”
Ø Keetons: “Two of our horses had their babies Sunday morning (April 26th)
and another is due anytime now. Asher asks that we pray for the mamas
(Gunpowder and Halo) and their new babies to be healthy and that J Lo will have
a healthy foal soon.”
Ø Anna Mosley: “Jared’s aunt, Jone
Opsteegh, is currently in Huntsville Hospital,
MICU. We have very little information outside of her having a lung infection
and being in critical condition. Also, her kidneys have failed, and she will
begin dialysis. Prayers for her, her husband, John, and Jared’s
mom, Gena, neither of whom are able to be with her in the hospital and
are reliant upon limited phone updates from hospital staff.” (Update: “They are
working on weaning her off the ventilator. She is increasingly more responsive.
Started dialysis and blood clots in the lungs are gone.”)
Ø Chloe Raum: “Please pray for Mindy Sims as she undergoes
radiation treatment for her cancer.”
Ø Louise Williams: “Continued prayers for my cousin, Bettie, and
her family. Brenda is making some improvement, slowly but we count ever
blessing. If she continues to improve within the next two weeks, she will go to
a rehab facility.”

WEDNESDAY
NIGHT GATHERINGS
1. BETTER - Hebrews Study (Ladies
Only)
Melinda Goad and Heidi Haviland are
continuing their class on the book of Hebrews using the Zoom application. This
is an interactive forum that takes place on Wednesday nights at 7:00-8:00pm.
This discussion-based class requires participants to do some weekly reading
prior to class to get the most out of the study. Contact Heidi for additional
details. Video participation requires a smartphone or a computer with a
microphone, and videocam if you want to share your video. For those interested
in being added to the electronic coordination list, please email Heidi Haviland
(heidi.fuqua@gmail.com).
2. Central Connections
This forum enables multiple small groups
to connect each week for spiritual conversations and to get to know one another
better. Depending on the group, the gathering may include devotional thoughts,
sharing, and prayer. In particular, one group plans to focus on important
lessons from church history. Another will take important insights from
Philippians when the author himself was “quarantined”! Still other groups will
adapt their format to the specific needs and desires of the group. These
interactive forums will use the Zoom application. Participation requires a
smartphone or a computer with videocam and microphone. Meetings nominally takes
place on Wednesday nights at 7:00pm, but once groups are established, participants
may set their own date and time. Each session will last 30 to 40 minutes. For
those interested in being added to a Central Connections group, please contact
Loren Wisehart (lwisehart@knology.net;
256-721-3359). He will help you get connected with a small group and help you
with instructions on how to dial in.

SHORT NOTE
FROM FRITZ NELSON
Dear
Central Family,
We are doing well. My
youngest daughter is checking on us, bringing groceries, and other needed
items. Hope all is well with my church family. Your
brother in Christ,
Fritz
NEED A LAUGH OR THREE?
Ø Do not call the police on suspicious
people in your neighborhood! Those are your neighbors without makeup and hair
extensions.
Ø I never thought the comment: “I wouldn’t
touch him/her with a 6-foot pole” would become a national policy, but here we
are.
Ø Quarantine has turned us into dogs: We
roam the house all day looking for food. We are told “no” if we get too close
to strangers, and we get really excited about car rides!
FRONT-LINE PEOPLE
Please
pray for those on the Front-Line (Nurses, Doctors, Paramedics,
Ambulance
Drivers, Nursing Home, Pharmacists, Fire Department,
Police
Department, Military, etc.) with this virus.
Some
of these may be on furlough at the present moment, but may be called in.
