Ø  Garrett Bell: “Thank you for anyone who reached out or prayed for my tough job decision. I have chosen the one that will give me more time with family, as well opportunity to share Jesus.”

Ø  Kyearia Booker: “Please pray for me and over my life. Pray for all college students. Pray for my mental health and also pray for my friend, Aija, and over her life.”

Ø  Pat Canterbury: “Please pray for a friend of my great-niece. Her name is Destiny Riekeberg, and she has been diagnosed with a rare type of liver cancer (Hepatoblastoma) at the age of 8 years old. Please also pray for my great-niece, Sofia, as her father passed this summer and now with her friend having this, it is hard.” (Update: The plan for Destiny is to have intensive chemo for approximately 9 months followed by surgery to remove part of the liver or she will receive a liver transplant.)

Ø  Dittos: “Pray for the Marriage Retreat to succeed in strengthening marriages and bringing praise to the Father.”

Ø  HyoungSoon Fitzerland requests our prayers that her whole family will become Christians. Her son’s name is Patrick, and her daughter’s name is Jennifer.

Ø  Cody Hardin: “Please pray for my wife, Belle, and my mother-in-law, Meri, as they finish up their last couple semesters at UNA. Pray for strength and encouragement for them. Thank you.”

Ø  Harrison Family:Baby Harrison #4 coming in July.”

Ø  Brandon and Jessica Ogle: “Please pray for my grandfather, Ron Olive, who is recovering from a massive heart attack – slowly improving as of now.”

Ø  Michael Nance: “Thanks to God for the safe travel of the Harding students! Please pray for the spirit to be active and powerful in our College Ministry. Pray also for our college kids.”

Ø  Grant Ralph: “Please pray for me. The ‘nodule’ or spot on my left lung has grown and bit since 3 months ago. It could definitely be cancer. My PET scan will be Monday afternoon.”

Ø  Reynolds:Marcheta Graves, mother of Angie Warton, fell and broke her hip – pray for healing. Also pray God will strengthen and comfort Muslims who have converted to Christianity and been rejected by their families.”

Ø  Minnie Teague: “Please continue to pray for Louis and our family for strength. Also pray for our son, Eric and his health issues.”

Ø  Jo Whitten requests prayers for relief of pain, for comfort and peace for her son-in-law’s (Russ) parents. His father, Eddie, has Hospice care now, but in good spirits. His mother, Elaine, is in hospital/assisted living, with back fractures. Russ and Liana are there with them in Colorado. Notes of encouragement may be sent to Eddie and Elaine Nixon, 7013 N County Rd 9, Wellington, CO 80549.

Just wanted to thank everyone for your prayers and thoughts concerning the Historic Commission’s decision concerning our building. I  just received news (Monday evening) that we have been approved to resume work on the repairs of the gymatorium. Thank you all again for your support during this time. Please keep in mind that this building is only a tool to be used in the spreading of the Good News of Christ.

2020 Central Marriage Retreat

Join us at the Central building and enjoy time connecting with other couples while strengthening your marriage.

Theme: Making Our Marriage A Light For Jesus

Date/Location: February 7th – 9th at Central Church building

Speakers: Robert and Stella Wilson – Family Dynamics Institute, Atlanta

Registration: Deadline is TONIGHT.   

Suggested donation: $65 per couple to cover speakers and retreat expenses. Donations not required but appreciated. Assistance by providing scholarship money will be appreciated.

Lunch Provided: Saturday, February 8th

Childcare: If possible, please make other arrangements for childcare and utilize in- house childcare only as a back-up plan.

Central Adult Wednesday Night Classes

Central’s adult classes will be meeting in the auditorium again this week. As part of our “Saints and Sinners in the World” series, tonight we begin a four-part segment taught by a guest speaker, Bob Rieder. Bob serves as an elder at the Mayfair Church of Christ. Over the next few weeks, Bob plans to present material on how Christians can live in redemptive ways alongside those who experience same-sex attraction.


Tuesday Ladies’ Class will begin their Spring Session January 28 at 10:15. Reading and studying the Psalms will be the class focus. We will be using a series published in Christian Woman Magazine” as a guide. If you would like to teach a class, please let Terri Apgar, Janice Greenleaf, or Sue Underwood know by January 18. We are presently preparing the teaching schedule. Remember, childcare is provided for pre-school children.                   Looking forward to seeing you in class,

It is with heavy and sorrowful hearts that Delois and I announce today that we will be relocating from Huntsville, to Jacksonville, Florida in the very near future during this calendar year. There are no words that even come close to describing what it meant for us to come to Huntsville 40 years ago to help Central start the campus ministry work; at a time when it was no easy task to cross societal and racial barriers. From the very beginning you made us  feel like family the moment we arrived and set up residence as newlyweds. There were physical and emotional needs that we, like any young couple, had to contend with, and many of you stepped in and helped fulfill many of them. Even though we were miles away from our biological and support families, many of you spent time helping us adjust to the transition and loneliness of that move. Not only that, when we started our family, you took our children in and treated them as if they were your own. You are their grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins—that’s been a little hard to explain to other people at times—and for this we are eternally grateful!

The main reason for our relocating is to support and care for my mother and her need to have us closer to provide personal support and spend quality time with her as she continues to live out her twilight years. This has been a very difficult decision for us to make and we ask your prayers that God will use us in a powerful way as we transition and continue to serve his people in Jacksonville, Florida.

Our plans are to place our home on the market for sale this spring, and if all goes well, leave some time in the summer or early fall. We ask for your prayers that all will go well as we make preparations and that God will continue to bless the leadership of this church as changes and adjustments are made with our departure. 

We love you all with the eternal love of the Lord and thank everyone of you for what you mean to us and how you have made our lives and ministry in this body a joy and an honor.

This is not goodbye—we definitely will be seeing you again and in our Father’s House!

Eph 3:20- Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
