Lora Porter: “For pray for Kim Smith (former member) is in Huntsville Hospital on a ventilator. He had COVID-19 a month ago, recovered well but had an acute pancreatic attack. Kim is in critical condition, responsive, on the vent with low settings. Keeping him calm so his heart will withstand fighting the infection. He had a CT scan, still has a lot of fluid which goes along with the pancreatic issues.” [Update from his wife, Teresa: “WILL TRY AND WAKE HIM UP!!! All day yesterday (Tuesday, December 15) and last night they began weaning him off “the big guns” pain and onto the next level of pain meds. These new meds will be the ones he will be using as he wakes up. Today (December 16) will be a hard day for him - maybe one of the hardest - pray that God helps intervene with this process. His heart will be the big issue - pray that vitals stay in the safe levels as they start the wake up. Waking up doesn’t mean that he is off the ventilator it means they want him less dependent on it. Right now it’s working 50% for him - they need him to be using only 30 to 40%. HE CAN DO THIS! He will have full “crew” surrounding him as they begin. Our earthly angels (as we call them) pray for them. We all want to express our gratitude and thanks for all your support you are giving us right now. We feel the power and strength!!!"] Notes of encouragement may be sent Kim (and Teresa) at 201 Darnell Place, Harvest, AL 35749.

December 9 through December 23 – Wednesdays at 7 pm

Delighting in God’s Word

Is reading the Bible easy or hard for you? Do you read the Bible because you feel like you should or because you enjoy it? If asked to be candid, a number of Christians might confess reading the Bible more out of a sense of obligation than out of a sense of privilege. So how does one get out of a rut? How can one start off the year seeking God through His word with heart, mind, soul, and strength?

During December, the adult midweek class will explore what it means to delight in God's word. We'll hear from fellow Christians about their favorite Scriptures and what gets them fired up about God's word. We'll hear from one another about practical things we can do to approach God's word.  Don't miss out on this opportunity to enter 2021 encouraged to encounter God through the Scriptures!
