THANK YOU

Dear Family,

I don’t know how people make it without family. Thank you all for your expressions of love after my recent surgery. The goodie basket was so-o-o-o good and the meals and gift cards helped a lot. The cards, calls, and visits lifted my spirits. Above all, I appreciate your prayers.       Love,

Pat Canterbury

A BIG THANK YOU

A big Thank You to all who helped with Trunk or Treat, October 31st. It was a HUGE success. We served over 600 people. So many of them expressed how pleased they were with the event and how they felt safe, not having to worry about their children. Said it was the best one they had ever been to. Rodney did an excellent organizing!!

Also, a special thanks to our New Beginnings and Young Marrieds for hosting such a great tribute to our Sonrisers with another successful Harvest Banquet. Everyone enjoyed the fellowship, food, decorations, and gifts.

NEED

We need empty paper towel tubes. Please drop them off in the teacher’s supply room. Thanks.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY

Cleared by the Supreme Court of Pakistan of blasphemy against the Prophet Muhammad,

death sentence commuted and released from prison after eight years.

This past Sunday Tom Reynolds reminded us of our calling to: “Remember those who are in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.” (Hebrews 13:3) and showed a moving video about persecuted Christians, after which we prayed.

This week we have cause for thanksgivings. The Supreme Court of Pakistan reversed the death sentence of Asia Bibi and had her released her from prison after eight years. Her crime: committing blasphemy under Islamic law through her faith in Jesus Christ. The court found the charges to be false. But keep praying. There have been violent protests in major cities, threats of “horrible” consequences to the judges and forces are working to try to prevent her from leaving to join her husband and two daughters in London.

Also, the situation is dire in northern Nigeria. Journalists with Christianity Today in an article dated November 6 and headlined, “No Checks Left to Turn: The Double Persecution of Africa’s Largest Christian Church,” reports that the Christians are weary of deadly attacks by Boko Haran, and Fulani herdsmen are asking how long they are supposed to persevere, and why, after years of the crisis, there is so little response from their federal government or from abroad. Let us at least pray earnestly and fervently on their behalf.
