Dear Church Family,

The past several weeks have been difficult. Your prayers and cards have been a great help. My daughter, Misty, is now in rehab. My granddaughter, Jessica, has been by her side during my daughter’s time in ICU.

My son, Danny, had surgery September 10th with hope of finding out what was causing his abdominal pain. During the surgery they removed his gallbladder and appendix. They found a problem with his urinary bladder. We have an appointment with a urologist September 21 to get that checked. (Danny will have a follow-up appointment in October.)

Thank you all for your prayers and notes of encouragement.

Your Brother in Christ,

Jeff Norville requests your presence on Saturday, October 23rd, at 2:00 p.m. at Central church of Christ to witness the publicly sharing of marriage vows with his fiancé, Ashley Boston. Please come and support our brother as they begin their lives together.

Their registry at WalMart and Amazon is listed under Ashley’s name.

September 12 through November 21 – 9:00 A.M.

Two adult classes are offered on Sundays. Please plan to arrive before 9:00 am to be seated. Also please note that the adult classes are not livestreamed. Instead, a Zoom link is provided for access to an online small group. Also, for parents of preschoolers coming in person, please wait until 8:55 am to drop your children off at preschool classes so that their teachers can get situated.

1.   The Story of Redemption (Gymnasium; Coordinator: Loren Wisehart)

This series presents the biblical account of the human problem, salvation, and a new life in Jesus Christ. Beginning with creation, the class follows the “big picture” storyline of the Bible as it finds meaning and completion in Jesus.

Groups will wrap up at 9:45 am in order to move chairs into place for the large assembly which begins at 10:15 am. Zoom link:

2.   Women’s Ministry (Library; Coordinators: Sue Underwood and Kim Story)

This class provides Bible-based content in a LIFE Talk setting and is set up to minister to women who are the head of their household and women whose husbands are not Christians. Women of all ages and situations are welcome who wish to participate in this ministry. While two ladies provide the principal oversight for the class, a number of ladies from within the class will be encouraged to lead individual sessions, usually a week or two at a time.

September 8 through December 1 (Thanksgiving Devotional on November 24)

Wednesday classes have returned to a traditional classroom format at 7:00 pm. Options are provided for deep Bible study/prayer, equipping for ministry, and God’s guidance for life situations. Zoom links will be provided for online access to some of the groups. For those interested in supporting men’s and women’s ministries at that time outside of Central’s building, please contact Jim Norville and Selwyn Reynolds, respectively.

1.   Better Together (Library; Coordinator: Melinda Goad; Women only)

This class for ladies can either be in-person or zoomed. The two-fold goal is to 1) teach each other through our growing Bible study skills and 2) develop deeper relationships as we examine challenging texts. Contact Melinda Goad to be added to the class roster. Zoom link:

2.   Generational Discipleship (Room 200; Leader: Daniel Alavi)

The Generational Discipleship class is designed to explore the wonderful ways God is moving throughout His people worldwide in order to equip one another for work of ministry that’s been divinely tasked to us.

3.   Raising Godly Kids (Room 113; Coordinator: Chad Dickey)

This class can either be in-person or join in on our zoom link. Topics include: 1) how to set parenting in a God-honoring context; 2) how to pass on your faith in daily life; 3) how to establish God-honoring priorities and boundaries/limits; 4) how to shape God-honoring character; 5) how to focus children on others above self; 6) how to foster purity and protect from spiritual attack; 7) how to discipline bad attitudes and behaviors; 8) how to handle children’s low moments; 9) how to deal with being angry at your children; 10) how to encourage care for extended family; 11) how to establish a godly work ethic; and 12) how to transition children into adulthood.
