Melinda Goad requests prayers for Charlie Brooks Hollis, newborn son of Jordan and Rayne Hollis and great-grandson of Lee Strickland. Little Charlie is in the NICU for 1 to 2 weeks with breathing problems.

Nikki Holley: “Please pray for my niece, Caitlin Pratt, who is battling a condition that makes her nauseous and painful in her abdomen. Doctors can’t seem to find the cause.”

Dana Mercier: “My niece, Reanna Wood, who is half-way through her pregnancy, has contracted the coronavirus. Please pray that they both come out the other side safe. She is in Huntsville Hospital.”

Lavonne Norville: “Please pray for my favorite cousin’s husband to live and overcome a very severe stroke. He still has a lot of clots, as well as paralysis, inability to speak, brain swelling, etc. My cousin has not been allowed in the hospital to see him. She has only spoken to him through video chat. Please pray for her and her children as well, as they are greatly stressed. Their names are Lyle and Yvonne Beveridge. They strongly believe in prayer.” (Update: Mr. Beveridge is now in a rehab with Hospice Care. His wife and children are able to be with him. Please keep the family in your prayers as “he carries on this journey from the earthly life to his full spiritual life in eternity.”

Mike Porter: “Central Family, First of all, thank you for the cards, notes, phone calls and visits. The family really appreciated the fruit basket. Although these often bring to mind just how sick they say I am - they are encouraging and a reminder of the hope we all share. My latest update from the Doctor is that my numbers are very good and trending in the right direction.  I can now occasionally go out into public. For what it's worth, I still feel fine. I work nine-plus hours a day for the Army and then take care of the farm in the evenings and weekends. It's kind of surreal. They tell me I'm really sick, but I feel fine. I appreciate, and continue to ask for your prayers. So far the side-effects of the chemo are quite manageable. I just hope my body doesn't start rejecting the drug and that the other systems - kidney, spleen, etc. fail. This is my part of my daily request. Again, thank you all for your prayers. Chemo is a mixed bag mostly good but it's a poison and has lots of "bad". Prayer is all good.”

Dear Central Family,

Thank you so very much for all the cards, calls, food, fruit basket and above all the prayers. God is so good. Tim is getting spoiled with all the wonderful food. (I’m not a great cook.) ha-ha, ha-ha. Thanks so much. Love abounds at Central and we sure have felt it.                                                                                                Joy McKee

Dear Ladies,

2020 continues to be a year of the unexpected and requires continual adjustment. Given the continuing virus threat, plans are to open the Fall Session of Tuesday Ladies' Class via e-mail. The format will be similar to what Janice did on Psalms in the Spring each week from mid-March until the end of May, but it will involve various teachers. Also, through the reply feature of e-mail comments or questions may be addressed to the group or the teacher.

All Central Ladies who wish to participate MUST SEND YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS to: pat(-at-) This will enable her to easily and efficiently deliver the class to those who

desire to receive it. Put: Sign Me Up for Tuesdays in the subject line.

The class will begin by picking up the last two lessons that were planned for last Spring. Kathleen Lowery will send a lesson on Psalm 78 and 103 on September 8. Next, Terri Apgar will organize lessons by ladies who may be interested in sharing a Psalm that impacted them during our study. Watch for more information from Terri on this. The remainder of the session will deal with godly women of the past, biblical and historical. We have resources available for these lessons. If you are interested in preparing one, contact Sue, Janice, or Terri. Please pray for our class and its teachers. AND SEND YOUR E-MAIL to Pat TODAY!                                                                                                                                                                      Thank you,

Janice Greenleaf

Since Happy Times is now back in session, help is needed on Sunday mornings after assembly to take down the tables and chairs in the Family Life Center. If you are able to help, please contact Gerry Binford 256-508-9407.

The campus ministry is resuming Friday Night Lives (FNL) this semester but with some new twists due to COVID-19. LIFE Talks, other groups, or individuals that provide meals for the event can either drop the food off at the building or bring and serve the food in the building. Masks will be required (and provided if needed) for both those serving and those being served. Gloves will also be provided for those serving. Those providing meals will need to “sign-up” via email rather than on a list posted in the building. Please see an email that was sent out earlier this week with details. Thank you in advance for helping our Campus Ministry.

Robert Wade continues the series called The Shadows: The Centrality of Jesus. This class is prerecorded on YouTube and will be posted by Saturday evening each week ahead of Sunday morning assembly. To watch at any time, go to Click on "Live Streaming", then click on "Click here for previous recordings", finally click on "Classtime 08-16-20”.

Join us (Zoom wise) this Wednesday from 7–8 when Mike Lowery and Rondell Crittenden will be sharing How to Grow Deeper in Praying for Others. To connect, select this link We look forward to seeing you then!
