FEBRUARY 5, 2020

We rejoice with the angels over the birth of a new brother. Chris Stone, a resident of His Way, was baptized Wednesday, January 29th. Please welcome and encourage him.

We welcome Jeff Norville,  who is a resident at His Way and son of Jim and  LaVonne Norville. He met with the elders and wishes to work and fellowship with us at Central.

Carla Arnold: “Please pray that God will help us all to respond appropriately when Satan’s attacks come from inside the church. Pray that God will help us to remember our calling, to choose to forgive, and to be salt and light.”

Steven Huie: “I want to pray for my guys at His Way, the incarcerated, and my family at home. And give thanks for my freedom and health.”

Clay Kuhn: “I hope that my family will not get the flu. I am thankful that none of my family has the flu.”

John Kuhn Family: “Please continue to pray for Tonda’s mother and uncle, George, as they are receiving Hospice care. Pray for their spiritual well-being. Please pray for wisdom for our family as we balance life’s needs.” (Update: Tonda’s uncle, George Shook, passed away Tuesday morning, February 4th. See “Sympathy” article.)

Taugené Morris: “Please pray for the mental health over my father and brother: Royal Morris, Sr. and Royal Morris, Jr.

Joan Palmer: “A friend and sister in Christ suffers from debilitating neuropathy, Barbara Moore. Ask God for healing and steadfast faith. Thanks.”

Graham Ray came forward as he said he was harsh toward another brother at the church and wanted to apologize to those who heard him and to the church as he was wrong. He had already asked for forgiveness to the one he had spoken to.

Reynolds: “Pray for Jessica Ogle to feel better and pray for strength for Christians who stay in places like Syria in order to share the gospel.”

Our Shut-ins: Cindy Anderson, Lorraine Baker, Amelia Biser, Jamie Cole, James Hall, Martha Jones, Sally Mans,  Johnny Powell, Louis Teague, and Bill & Sherill Townsley.

Mothers-In-Waiting: Amanda Coleman (6/12), Rachael Sherrill (6/13), Stephanie Clark (7/10), and Angie Harrison (7/23)

Our Missionaries: Denisovs & Rahimovs (Tomsk, Russia), Kishore Etwaroo Family (Port Kaituma, Guyana), Carlos & Linda Eguizabal (Juayua & Salcoatitan, El Salvador) & YOU (Huntsville Area)

Our sympathy is extended to The John Kuhn Family in the passing of Tonda’s uncle, George Shook, Tuesday, February 4th. Tonda asks us to please pray for her mom as she deals with his passing. Pray also that the necessary paperwork will be found so that his burial can be taken care of. Notes of sympathy may be sent to Betty Madden, 2508 N. Quaker, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74106.

Thank you for all of your prayers and support during a hard time. We are celebrating Anna’s return home.                                                                               Charles Brown

Go Digital         Use Online Apps          Facebook

If any of these terms intimidate, scare, or make you uncomfortable do not read the rest of this article. If you chose to read on, please be aware that knowledge and insight will be gained. Let’s start.

The best way to begin is to say welcome to the digital age. Our goal is to become more efficient at information management while not losing the personal interaction. The following is presented to help this situation.

First, a question. Did you know that we email the Sunday bulletin to every household in the database each week on the Friday before? Check it out. Oh, you say I haven’t seen it. Well, let’s see about that. Ask yourself these questions. Is my family listed in the database as members of Central? Is the email listed in the database the main email for your household? If you answered no to either, give our member relations resource representatives (Juanita or Pat) a call and the situation will be corrected.

One of the most useful tools in Central’s digital toolbox is the ability to make your contributions and or donations through the Online Giving app. The advantage is the process is quick, easy and secure. Simply sign on to the Central website ( and click the Online Giving Icon in the lower left portion of the website.  Establish your member profile and you are set.

Facebook is our social media platform and is the best way Central members have to interact with one another. Central has two Facebook Accounts. One is the public site (Central Church of Christ) and the other a private site (Central Members Private Group). Both of these are very useful in getting and giving information. The difference is the private group requires an invitation due to the nature of the information contained on the site.

Online database access is the most requested tool in the box. If you are a member, you have access to the Central database directory. For your privacy and the privacy of others access is by invitation only. Send a request to the Central Office and if approved you will be sent a link and instructions on how to access the member portal.

The information mentioned above is simply an overview of the tools available in our digital toolbox. There are obviously details which are not in this article. If you need more information, have questions or comments please feel free to contact one of our customer relations resource representatives (256-534-0382) who will greet you with a live, friendly human voice with access to all the knowledge of the Central digital world and the surrounding galaxies.

The sign-up list to prepare meals for the college ministry at their FNLs (Friday Night Live) is posted inside of the kitchen area. LIFE Talks or individuals, please sign up. Thanks. Any questions contact Carla Campbell (256-882-6449).

Servants are needed to serve in the Nursery (both the Nursery and Toddlers) during Sunday Assemblies. A new signup sheet has been posted outside the Nursery and Toddler A classrooms or contact Cathy Farless at 256-509-3541 (text or voice) if you are willing to help.

We still need servants to sign up for a month of preparing the communion trays. The list for signing up is posted in the kitchen. This is one of those behind the scenes acts-of-service that is appreciated by everyone. If you have any questions, please contact Jim Phillips 256-417-8202.

Adults, please join us in the auditorium tonight for another lesson on our Saints and Sinners in the World series. Our guest speaker, Bob Rieder, will present our last part of a four-part segment on how Christians can live in redemptive ways alongside those who experience same-sex attraction. Bob serves as an elder at the Mayfair Church of Christ.
