REJOICE

PRAYER REQUESTS

Canterburys: “Please continue to keep Jon’s cousin, Melissa Jordan, (Crestwood Hospital) in your prayers as she recovers from complications following back surgery. Also, please pray for Melissa’s newborn granddaughter, Maggie Bradley, who was born with severe genetic problems. Maggie is now in the Children’s Hospital in Birmingham. Please keep Maggie’s mother, Sarah Bradley, in your prayers to make wise decisions and keep her strength up as she juggles being with Maggie and with her other children.”

Janice Greenleaf: “Please pray for my brother-in-law, Lawrence Spradley, who is in the ICU at Crestwood Hospital with lung and gastric issues. Please include my sister Betty and the rest of the family: her son Darryl and family and her daughter Krista Chambless and her family in prayer. Thank you.” (Update: “Holding his own – vent down.”

Charlie and Barbara Hopkins: "Please pray for our friend and family member who had a double lung transplant Tuesday, January 25th, at Vanderbilt. Thank you for your prayers.”)

THANK YOU

Dear Central family,

Thank you so much for hosting such a beautiful shower for our baby girl and us. We are so grateful for how supported and loved you’ve made us feel during this special time that words would never be enough to express our gratitude. We have so much joy to be members of a church full of lovely, kind, and godly people.

We will appreciate your prayers for the healthy and safe arrival of our baby.

May the Lord bless you all!

Kyle, Stephany, and baby Sophia Moore

Many thanks to everyone for the prayers, food, cards and calls during our illness and accident imposed isolation! It meant so much to both of us. We love you and hope to be back with you soon.

SUNDAY ADULT CLASS OPTIONS – WINTER TERM 2022

January 2 through February 27

1.   The Story of Redemption (Gymnasium; Coordinator: Loren Wisehart)

This series presents the biblical account of the human problem, salvation, and a new life in Jesus Christ. Beginning with creation, the class follows the “big picture” storyline of the Bible as it finds meaning and completion in Jesus.

Each week, participants are invited to arrive early for fellowship. Upon entering the gymnasium, participants will be assisted in finding a small group. After a call to order and welcome, all groups will watch a 5–10-minute video. Once the video is done, groups will read a Bible passage related to the video, discuss questions, and pray for one another. Groups will wrap up at 9:45 a.m. in order to move chairs into place for the large assembly which begins at 10:15 am. Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83086751743?pwd=RjNTYVR3QXNUUDRXYUxtN25VRmM0QT09

The topic and text for Sunday, January 30th, the topic and text will be The Early Church & the Light of the World (Matthew 5:1-10, 14-16).

Sunday, February 6th, the topic and text will be The Heart of a Disciple (Matthew 6:19-24).

2.   Women’s Ministry (Library; Coordinators: Sue Underwood and Kim Story)

This class provides Bible-based content in a LIFE Talk setting and is set up to minister to women who are the head of their household and women whose husbands are not Christians. Women of all ages and situations are welcome who wish to participate in this ministry. The class is generally organized to alternate between Old Testament and New Testament books, topics, and ideas. However, prayer and sharing are also integral parts of the class. As participants begin to apply the teaching to their own lives, they are invited to openly share burdens with one another. This is so that others who have walked that path previously can share their own experience and wisdom in how to face that situation faithfully. While two ladies provide the

principal oversight for the class, a number of ladies from within the class will be encouraged to lead individual sessions, usually a week or two at a time.

WEDNESDAY ADULT CLASS OPTIONS – WINTER 2022

January 5 through March 2

1.   Generational Discipleship (Room 200; Leader: Daniel Alavi)

The Church in the West is facing a steep decline, yet the Body of Christ worldwide is thriving like never before. The center of Christianity is slowly moving towards the Global South, into areas and people groups where the church has virtually no major denominational leanings, no governmental recognition or legitimacy, no bank accounts, no 501c3s, no Bible Schools or seminaries, and no assets, properties, or buildings. In spite of this, hundreds of churches are being planted, thousands of disciples are being made, and millions are being baptized into the name of Jesus!

2.   God’s Promises Fulfilled in the Gospel According to Matthew (FLC; Leader: Loren Wisehart)

In the Old Testament, God made some amazing promises to people like Abraham, Israel, and David. These promises established how God related with His people for centuries. In the New Testament, one of the things that distinguishes Matthew’s biography of Jesus from other similar accounts is how from cover to cover, he demonstrates how Jesus fulfills these promises. In this short overview of the Gospel According to Matthew, we will examine how Jesus fulfills these promises and explore how they remain relevant for our lives today. This class can either be in-person or join in on Zoom. Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86363371603?pwd=cjM1bmFxZ0kyTU5SR1VQUlN2QlpOZz09
