REJOICE
We rejoice with the angels over the birth of a
sister and brother. Shannon
Hicklen, wife of Ronnie (resident of His
Way), was baptized Tuesday, November 29th. On Thursday, December
1st, Reese
Jones, a resident of His
Way, put the Lord on in baptism. Please welcome and encourage them.
PRAYER REQUESTS
Mary Callins:
“Thank you for prayers for Trudy Spearman.
Yesterday (Saturday, December 3rd) Trudy said her white blood
count is going up and she hopes to start physical therapy Monday. She thanks
each of you for your prayers and asks us to keep praying that she improves with
rehab – for God’s miraculous intervention.”
Lisa
Cooper: “Please pray for Steve Pockrus, my son’s father. He is having back surgery
Monday at 1:00.” (Update: Lisa said, “PRAISE GOD! He has no pain in his
leg, which is where it was worst. Very sore at the incision site, of course, and some back pain there. I feel like that will go away.
Thank you so very much for the prayers. I really appreciate you all so much.”)
The Dorans: “Please pray for my Aunt Linda Fleming,
who has to make medical decisions after being diagnosed with stage 3 lung
cancer. She is recovering from triple bypass as well.”
Cathy
Farless: “My daughter, Carrie, tested positive
with Covid. Pray that she will have a quick recovery.” (Update: Carrie
is feeling better.)
John
Kuhn Family: “Please continue to pray for Hannah
Sutherland. She’s having horrible episodes of dangerously high pulse rate,
and seizure like episodes. Her lupus is attacking her organs.”
The
Sherrills: “Please continue to pray for Eva Mitchell
and her pregnancy. She will be getting induced December 22nd.”
Doug Turbyfill: “Thank you for your support. Pray for Matthew
Beavers.”
Thomas
Volkman: “Would like to pray for Matt Beaver
that he may find strength, understanding.”
Toshiko
Wingard: “Thank you for all your prayers for Doug.
We got home Saturday evening, and he is doing well, so far. Please continue to
pray for a quick recovery from the surgery. Thank you.”
Drue
Wright: “Prayers
for my son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Becky and their family. Their daughter gave birth about a month early
to a 6 pounds baby boy. He will be in the NICU for at least a few days, but all
looks good now. About an hour after his birth Becky’s mother died. Her
death was expected but it’s never easy. Becky had been with her mother
for several weeks and I know she is exhausted. Thanks for your prayers.”
Mothers-In-Waiting: Marjie Nance (1/2/23), Kat Nambo (2/2023), and Allison Ledford (6/2023).
Our
Shut-ins: Amelia
Biser, Randall Biser, Jamie Cole, Fritz Nelson, Sheril

SYMPATHY
Our sympathy is extended to The
Palmer Family in the passing of Joan’s brother/Barrion’s uncle, Bruce
Harris, Friday, December 2nd.
Mr. Harris’ funeral will be
Friday, December 9th, at the First Baptist Church in Vacherie,
Louisiana. Joan “requests for prayers
of comfort, strength and spiritual steadfastness. Bruce died in Christ,
and we are so grateful to God.”
CENTRAL ANGEL TREE
ASSEMBLY LESSON SERIES: “THE SPIRITUAL REALMS”
This
series follows an exploration of God and His character by acknowledging our
enemy and his hold in our lives and this world. It is God who conquers the
enemy, not humans, but he has given us abundant wisdom on how to address
temptation, persecution, and injustice in our daily walks.
Theme Scripture: Ephesians

LETTER
FROM THE SOPOT CHURCH OF CHRIST
Sopot, Poland
Dear
Brothers and Sisters at Central Church of Christ,
The
Church of Christ in Sopot along with our Ukrainian brother and sisters, thank
you for your contribution of $22,725.69 sent through College Church for the
needs of people displaced by the outbreak of hostilities in neighboring Ukraine
on February 24, 2022.
Because
of your Christlike spirit of giving, we have been able to offer refuge and
relief to over 200 of our brothers and sisters fleeing the fear, death and
destruction of war, providing them a safe, warm and welcoming place to stay. We
bought beds, covers and blankets, installed extra toilets and bathroom
facilities, arranged laundry services, stocked supplies and afforded food and
drink to those who have sought safety in Sopot. From March 1 to October 15,
occupancy in our church building has been 4840 nights. We served
three meals a day to those living here and have also fed at least one meal a
day to those who are registered with us but who have moved off-site, totaling
almost 20,000 meals. Your funds have also paid for doctor appointments,
physical therapy, medical equipment and prescription as well as OTC medicines,
Polish lessons, shoes and clothing.
Sopot
church leaders have from the very beginning been concerned that this
undertaking meet spiritual and emotional needs through bi-lingual worship
services. Ukrainian Bible classes for adults, youth and children, fellowship
and evangelist efforts which are all a part of the program with school supplies
as they enroll in Polish schools and have arranged Polish language classes for
those who need to make a life in Poland because they have no home to go back
to.
We
appreciate your fellowship in this work, for without the support of our
unselfish Christian family, we could not have even begun this ministry. Only
God knows how long this war will last. We ask you to continue to be with us in
our efforts and we pray that we will be good stewards of your trust and
faithful servants of our Father in Heaven.
Sincerely
for the Church in Sopot,
Molly
& Annabelle Dawidow
P.S. Thanks! We appreciate your
most generous gift.

WEDNESDAY ADULT CLASS (7:00 PM)
David’s
Life, David’s Songs (Family Life Center with Zoom Option)
Most psalms in the book of
Psalms lack details that would help locate the psalm in history. The general
nature of those songs can be helpful to us as readers and singers,
because those songs can be readily adapted to our own grieving and
rejoicing. That said, a few of the psalms are very specific about their
historical context. That too can be helpful to us, by helping us understand how
the song writer grappled with the challenges and delights of their own
circumstances.
During December, a few psalms
from the life of David will be highlighted. We’ll look at what the songs meant
in the circumstances in which David lived, how those psalms relate to other
passages of Scripture, and what they mean in our own life. Leaders: Loren
Wisehart and Allen Wright. Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86363371603?pwd=cjM1bmFxZ0kyTU5SR1VQUlN2QlpOZz09
